First Fruits of the Studio

I’ve been working hard in the studio these past month or so getting through the bumps and kinks of making functional pottery.  These are a few of the first mugs and beakers that made it through the test firings.  There are so many steps and little nuances of making pottery that I have forgotten about over the years.  I haven’t thrown multiple wares on the wheel for longer than I thought!  Teaching throwing a mug here and there or making sculpture isn’t quite the same as throwing  matching multiples.  Even through all my training in ceramics, making a line of dinnerware has a learning curve of it’s own.  A wonderful learning experience.  These new skills will prove some fantastic creations in the months to come! Just like riding a bike.
